Joseph Gordon-Levitt by IsabelleWallgren Joseph Gordon-Levitt by IsabelleWallgren
Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt
A3 - paper, pencil, charcoal, white marker (for smallest details), rubber and toilet paper (instead of stompf - don't know if it's called that in english? If not, it's one of these: [link] )

I know the neck is a bit high but when I realized that it was already to late. Mostly because i was lazy since I had not finished anything in a while!

The reference photo is taken by a mr Matt Carr, and is from the Getty Images Entertainment collection, I believe.

I'm probably not the first one to say this, but he looks a lot like Heath Ledger. This is a great drawing. You are very talented. :)

You're not the only one to think so! Maybe that's a reason why they both belong to my favorite actors list? Haha
Thank you very much, I'm very glad you think so! :D

Wow! It's amazing! ;-)

Have you some tip for me? I'm learning portrait drawing too, and stand at the beginning.

Do you begin learning with the anatomy of humans? :?

Thank you very much! :D
The best tip is to start from the middle, the eyes/nose area and work your way out. If you do that it's easier to get the rest right I believe! Also don't start with details and such until you've sketched the whole picture. Then it's easier to change anything and you don't have to smudge everything out with your hand as I manage to! ^^
And don't be afraid to work a lot with shading and contrast!

That's a great way of starting, but it's not exactly what I've done. I learnt the anatomy by watching people, how they move, sit, turn, lay, the proportions and so on. I have always done that. And I got better and better by drawing people a lot. You could say I'm still learning :)
And of course I've gotten a lot of tips from others and watched how artist did
